Speaking & Training .
Talks, workshops, and live training — written for the audience in the room, not for a recording nobody watches.
[ 00 / brief ]
Speaking and live training is a different shape from what we do in Learn. Learn is asynchronous — a catalog of courses that an organization buys for its workforce, completed on a phone or a laptop on the learner’s own time. Speaking & Training is the other half: the keynote, the workshop, the half-day session where a human in the room makes the difference. Conferences, corporate offsites, classrooms, community events.
The brand promise is the same as everywhere else. Plain words, real examples, no jargon for its own sake — and no thinly-veiled sales pitch dressed up as a talk.
[ 01 / topics we speak on ]
Topics we’ve delivered before, with current decks and material ready to adapt to a specific audience:
- Cybersecurity for the physical security industry. Talks and workshops built for the audience whose primary trade is physical and whose cyber exposure has been growing underneath them. Field-focused, vendor-agnostic, no jargon-for-jargon’s-sake. We present this content at ISC East and ISC West annually; it’s also available as “how to sound cyber-competent in the field” tracks for installer and sales-team audiences, and as deeper “cyber for physical security pros” sessions for technicians and integrators. See Physical Security for the full industry picture.
- Privacy and security for organizations without a security team. Practical, non-condescending, written for the IT generalist, the executive director, the office manager who got the cybersecurity job by accident.
- What compliance actually buys you (and what it doesn’t). The honest take on the gap between checking the boxes and being defensible.
- The honest risk picture for small and mid-size organizations. What attackers actually do to organizations of this size. Why most threat-landscape decks miss the point.
- Building a security culture without becoming the office cop. How to get the workforce on side without turning every interaction into a violation.
- Custom — tell us what your audience needs and we’ll write something. Topics outside our practice are out of scope; we won’t fake an industry we don’t work in.
[ 02 / formats we deliver ]
- Keynotes and conference sessions — 30 to 60 minutes, written for a room, designed to actually be listened to.
- Half-day and full-day workshops — interactive, exercise-driven, deliverable-shaped. People leave with something they wrote, not just something they heard.
- Panels and moderated discussions — happy to be on a panel, happy to moderate one if you’ve already got the panelists.
- Lunch-and-learns and internal sessions — 45 to 90 minutes, for one organization’s audience, on a topic they care about.
- Virtual and in-person — both work. Virtual is genuinely possible because we don’t dial it in. In-person is preferred for workshops where the room dynamic matters.
[ 03 / who books us ]
- Conference and event organizers in cybersecurity, IT, public sector, education, healthcare, and physical security — including the ISC East and ISC West circuit, where we present annually.
- Corporate L&D and internal-comms teams running offsites, leadership summits, or topic-specific company-wide sessions.
- Industry associations and professional groups programming chapter meetings or annual conferences.
- Universities and education programs running guest-lecture series, executive-education modules, or capstone-adjacent industry days.
- Community organizations and nonprofits running educational events for their members or constituents — we’ll usually find a way to make these work, regardless of budget.
